Can you really turn a van into a home in 48 hours? Almost. We’re 95% there — the build blitzed into shape with a kind of ruthless efficiency. What’s missing is the solar panel, the last piece that will give it life. Until then, it’s a shell waiting for its heartbeat.
The battery wiring arrived today, tomorrow’s job. Each screw, each wire pulls us closer to freedom, even as the details keep us tethered. The bedding’s in, the drawers are stocked, the space feels ready, like we could roll out at any moment.
But for now, we’re grounded in Torquay. House-sitting, with the company of Angus, a 27-kilo puppy who stares at us like he knows exactly what we’re plotting. A reminder that this chapter isn’t quite done.
This time in limbo has its upside. We’ll tweak the build, get it closer to perfect, and then set our sights west — across the Nullarbor, toward work at some roadhouse, stacking cash for the next leg into the unknown. Summer’s on the horizon, but there’s still time to prepare.
And if anyone needs a designer, I’ve got a few weeks spare. Until then, I’ll enjoy the calm before the storm. The road won’t wait forever.
